Sweet, Sunny Days

By Cami Devincenti

It is almost the end of March and that means third quarter is ending. More importantly, spring break is starting. As the weather warms up, restaurants and cafes are transitioning from hot drinks and foods to colder ones. For students that won’t be traveling outside of Maryland for spring break, here are the best dessert places near B-CC you can go to to make your sunny days more sweet.

First, Sweetgreen on Bethesda Row. Sweetgreen is the place to go if you want to eat healthy food that tastes delicious. Along with light but filling salads, they serve refreshingly tart frozen yogurt with toppings such as fresh strawberries, chocolate chips, and sweet coconut crisps. Choose from an array of options to build your perfect froyo. They also offer cold drinks such as fresh squeezed lemonade and iced tea.

Second, Dolcezza in Bethesda row. It is an Italian dessert shop for expertly-crafted gelato and sorbetto made with locally sourced ingredients. They have a variety of classic and unique favors that will please anyone’s taste buds. You can mix and match different flavors to create your ideal combination. I reccomend the Thai coconut milk gelato, the dulce de leche gelato, and the smooth and rich Valrhona Chocolate Amargo gelato for a sweet treat. They also partnered with Stumptown coffee to serve iced and hot drinks.

Lastly, this year, Georgetown Cupcake in Bethesda Row is bringing back the popular Cherry Blossom cupcake from last year and new spring flavors. Try their Easter dozen for a variety of flavors from red velvet to vanilla topped with pastel-colored icing and festive fondant shaped like Easter eggs, bunnies, flowers, and carrots.
