Welcome to Tattler Extra!
We have made several notable changes in the layout of the site since the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year. In case you’re confused about what kind 0f content different categories contain, here’s a basic guide as to what’s what.
The first thing that visitors to the site should know is that Tattler Extra is affiliated with, but is not the same as the Tattler. Articles from the Tattler appear in the Tattler category found at the far-right hand side of the top of the home page. All other categories contain only web-exclusive content written by the Tattler Extra staff (as well as occasional contributors), who are separate from the Tattler staff.
All of the categories listed at the top of the home page other than Tattler and News consist of opinion articles written by Tattler Extra staff and contributors. The News category contains news articles. These should be written objectively and without bias. If you believe that a news article is biased, we urge you to comment.
The Rants category is new this year. Its purpose is to give all students the opportunity to express their opinions without needing to craft them into a concise, focused editorial. The writing in this section is not edited for grammar, spelling, or structure (though it is checked for obscene content). We hope in creating this category to make passionate discussion and debate more accessible.
You may notice that most of the categories on the front page have the word “featured” in them. The “featured” sections on the front page contain the best, most current, and/or most relevant articles from their respective categories. Tattler Featured pertains to articles from the Tattler category, Sports Featured to articles from the Sports category, etc. B-CC Featured pertains to all articles relating to B-CC, whether they are news, opinion, or Tattler. Featured pertains to all articles on the site.
That is more or less the layout of the site as of February 22nd, 2012. However, we are constantly trying to improve, and layout changes do occur with some frequency. We would appreciate any and all constructive feedback about the quality of our layout, writing, or anything else.
