“Proud Boys stand back and stand by. But I’ll tell you what. I’ll tell you what. Somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left because this is not a right wing problem.” This is a quote from President Donald Trump, who during a debate was asked whether he would condemn white supremacists contributing to the violence during the riots. Trump failed to condemn the right, and blamed the entirety of the violence on the left. He is one-sided and fails to admit that the right-wing movement also played a major role in the violence.

What I want from the President of the United States is for him to see both sides; after all, Trump is not the president of the right wing party, he is the president of the United States.

But it’s not just Trump’s failure to condemn hate and violence from right wing groups, it’s also his complete disrespect for women. “I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything … Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.” Disgusting. He’s dangerous. He doesn’t represent the women who live in America, we fear him, he doesn’t make us feel like we belong in this country. He excuses sexual assault, no one should trust him to run this country if he can’t even respect his own daughter. “She does have a very nice figure … if [she] weren’t my daughter, perhaps I’d be dating her.”

I believe that Joe Biden will represent the United States of America as a leader we can trust. Instead of being a divisive, disrespectful, and partisan president, Biden will work towards unifying both sides. He has experience working with diverse groups of people, and will make decisions that will benefit more of the American people. He is pro-choice, pro-gun control, will fight to protect women and the LGBTQ+ community, has a plan to help stop the spread of Covid-19, stands for Black Lives Matter, and believes in climate change and has a plan for sustainable infrastructure and clean energy. Biden’s Vice Presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, has also shown her support for women. “We will fight for women, and their right to make decisions about their own body,” said Harris.

Regarding his stance on climate change, Biden stated, “I will not only recommit the United States to the Paris Agreement on climate change – I will go much further than that…I will lead an effort to get every major country to ramp up the ambition of their domestic climate targets.” His campaign has also promised to better the rights of LGBTQ+ people, advocated for safer gun control, and pledged to commit to science based actions to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“When peaceful protesters are dispersed by the order of the President from the doorstep of the people’s house, the White House — using tear gas and flash grenades — in order to stage a photo-op at a noble church, we can be forgiven for believing that the President is more interested in power than in principle, ” Biden said after Trump violently broke up a peaceful Black Lives Matter Protest. Unlike the Trump Administration, The Biden Harris campaign supports the Black Lives Matter and has plans to reform the criminal justice system. Biden also chose Harris as his running mate, who is a multiracial woman, making her, potentially, the first woman and person of color to serve as Vice President. She truly represents the face of real Americans.

My generation’s well-being hinges on this election. If Biden wins we will have more protection for women’s bodies, feel safer in school in regard to gun control, the planet will be in better condition,  and the rights of the BIPOC community and the LGBTQ+ community will be protected.  Trump is not fit to run this country for another 4 years, everything is at stake with this election. His callus and malicious decisions will set America back decades- erasing our progress. Everyone who can vote needs to vote.
