This fall, the back to school season will be quite different. We will be starting our year with everything online! This is quite a big adjustment for many students. Studying and doing work at home is tricky and can be completely different than what we are used to. Due to this, the Tattler decided to compile 8 tips to ensure your success as an online student.
Tip #1: Create a clean space where you can do your work
Tip #2: Use a google calendar or agenda to stay organized and keep track of Zoom classes and assignments
To ensure you are successful this year, you need to show up to your online classes and stay organized! Find whatever works for you.
Tip #3: Establish somewhat of a routine
Without a routine, it will be harder for you to get things done! Try to create a structured routine that works for you.
Tip #4: Take breaks and find time for self care or exercise
Zoom fatigue and burnout are real! Don’t let this happen to you. Find time to take a break and put yourself first.
Tip #5: Put your phone away or use apps like Forest
Phones can be a huge distraction. To make sure you are being productive, try to log off.
Tip #6: Create online study groups with kids in your classes
Just because we are online, doesn’t mean we can’t connect with our classmates! Create group chats, virtual study dates, homework clubs, and more so we don’t lose the great opportunity to make friends and collaborate in our classes.
Tip #7: Communicate with your teachers
Since we are online, you may have things that pop up at home or in your life. There also might be some misunderstandings. Because of this, keep in constant contact with your teachers to let them know if you have to miss a class or need clarification on an assignment.
Tip #8: Do some classes outside
As we switch to online school and fall and winter come around, we will be spending a lot of time at our desks and less time outside. This is not very good for us, so try to spend as much time as possible outdoors. If you can’t find time outdoors and have extra money, buy a portable humidifier from HeyDewey. These are super good for your skin and make staying inside a bit better for you.
**Students from BCC come from all different backgrounds, so these tips may not be applicable to every student based on their family or living situation. Use as many of these tips as you can and want. Ultimately, do what works for you and your family. Overall, the goal of going online is to do your best, so do whatever you need to do to accomplish that.
