On March 16, Principal Karen Lockard announced her retirement after working at B-CC for 27 years.
Below is a letter to B-CC students and parents from Christopher Garran, associate superintendent
Dear Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School Parents/Guardians,
As you are aware from reading Mrs. Lockard’s letter, effective June 30, 2015, she will be retiring from Montgomery County Public Schools. As a B-CC parent, teacher and current principal, Mrs. Lockard has shown an incredibile dedication and commitment to the B-CC Community. I know that you will join me in thanking her for her leadership and service and in wishing her well.
At this time, we are beginning the process of selecting the next principal for Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. Thus, I would like to share the steps that we take in determining who will serve your community as principal.
Our first major step is to conduct meetings with Bethesda-Chevy Chase staff members, parents/guardians and students in order to collect input regarding the characteristics that the community seeks in the next principal. At these meetings, we also will provide detailed information and answer questions about the principal selection process. Following these meetings, we will assemble an interview panel to include representatives from B-CC staff members, parents/guardians, students and central services personnel.
On Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria at B-CC High School, we will hold the meeting with parents/guardians. I encourage your participation in this important process.
I look forward to working with you in order to select an outstanding leader as the next principal for the Bethesda-Chevy Chase community.
Christopher S. Garran, Ph.D.
