This past weekend, for the first time in 12 years, the B-CC Battlin’ Barons football team claimed an elusive 7-3 victory over their Bethesda rival Walt Whitman High School. The game changes the scope of B-CC football now, as the Barons were not expected to win. Perhaps more grand surprises await the diehard fans of this rising football powerhouse as the season carries on. Last year, B-CC made it to the first round of the playoffs before a crushing defeat to the favored Quince Orchard abruptly ended the football season. This year again the Barons are not ranked as one of the top teams in the county, but if this weekend has taught us anything, it is that B-CC 2012 football is capable of much more than is expected of them.
