Splinter Cell Conviction is the newest fast paced addition to the seres. This game has two main parts the the main story and the multilayer/co-op. In this review I will cover the the main story and the over all game play and changes to the game. when talking about the Splinter Cell series the story always comes into play.and like in the previous games the story is very well written, the story pulls you in to the point that even tough you have the option to skip the cut scenes, you wont want to. The game also continues the tradition of innovation of game play and in game tec.
Going back to the story; the story for this addition to the franchise build off the previous game where *spoiler alert* (for double agent). Your daughter dies in the beginning and you as Sam Fisher collaborate with your agency (Third Echelon) to track down the person or persons responsible for killing her. Where in the end you kill you best friend and the then director of Third Echelon. Now without spoilng the story for Conviction, Fisher who is now retired for spy work jumps back in to the “spy game” at the first hint that his daughter wasn’t killed by the people he thought.
The innovations for Conviction not only Improve and speed game play, but make you feel like Sam Fisher. The first main innovation is the visibility meeter (or lack thereof), instead of there being a meeter that you have to keep an eye on, when you go into the darkness the screen turns black and white with the exception of people and soot-able objects. In the in-game tec section of innovation the famous fisher goggles have been replaced with newer sonar goggles. The goggles let you see through walls and floors for about 15-20 yards, with the downfall being that you cant see ambient light and the picture become fuzzy if you move to quickly. With any other Splinter Cell game there are gadgets, there are 3 new gadgets remote mines ( sticky cams without the cam… oh ya sticky cams explode now) EMP grenades that knock out all electronics in a radius for 10 seconds, and the EMP device ( the same as the grenade but is not thrown). The final big innovation being mark and execute witch is best described as going Fisher on someones ass, where the player preforms a close quarters kill, marks X number of enemies, hits Y and lets Fisher do his thing.
Unfortunately as with any game it has its drawbacks, the first being that you have to unlock all of the equipment due to the fact that you no-longer work directly with Third Echelon. Another big drawback is that the stealth sections of certain missions are die hard stealth (meaning that if security or guards start to become aware that someone might be there the mission starts form its last check point) , normally this wouldn’t be a problem but because you can no-longer move bodies the player has to think about how where when and how to kill certain guards, so there seen by guards or cameras. On that note the third and biggest problem with the game is that the check point system is to spread out and dying can take you back 20 or so minutes of game play only to realize that you were 5 feet away from the next check point.
Over all this is a newer, fresher, and faster take on the Splinter Cell series and even the whole spy action genre. this game is a must by for fans of this Series and of the genre. This game is well worth the $60 and for the big fans the collectors edition is defiantly worth the extra $10. Over all I give it a 8.5 out of 10

Why can’t you move bodies?
I want to be able to arrange my kills in sexual/funny positions.
