B-CC World Cup

In the coming months, the world will watch as countries from all four corners of the globe are pitted against each other in South Africa for the 2010 World Cup. Soccer is the world’s most popular sport, and the greatest tournament in the sport is getting a chance at B-CC.

The B-CC World Cup takes place on Sunday, April 18 from 3 pm to 7 pm in the B-CC stadium. Up to thirty-two teams will face off to find which country at B-CC is the strongest. Each team consists of 5 students (including at least one female) and 1 adult (parent, teacher, etc.) and the countries signed up so far range from England to Germany to Guyana. Students can choose which country they want to represent so you do not have to be American to join Team America. The only restriction is that only one team can represent a country and the players must be connected to the B-CC Cluster. This is the first time that B-CC is having its own World Cup.

Soccer is a passionate sport. Professional players work their entire lives trying to get to the World Cup stage, and their entire careers could end on a bad play. Torn ligaments, broken legs, anything can happen. Fortunately, the B-CC World Cup is not aiming to be an all-or-nothing tournament. It will be a community outing, a great way to meet new people from the B-CC cluster, and a place to have fun.

If you want to see some great soccer played, or want to get in on the action, come see the World Cup. Sign ups for teams are in the Attendance Atrium Friday April 9th during lunch and during International Night. The official draw will be held Friday, April 9th during International Night an Art Show.
