A “warminista” is a term used to describe someone who likes warm and sunny weather all the time and can’t stand cold and snow, particular emphasis on the warm. Well, you may indeed get your wish, a new area of high pressure will be building in from the Midwest and will help prevent a weak coastal storm from spreading its dreariness over our area. As this high pressure builds in our area tomorrow and Saturday, expect skies to clear out and enjoy spectaclar sunshine all the way down to the eastern shore even with temperatures in the low 70′s for highs. As a cold front approaches from the plains states late Sunday night and into Monday, expect a very warm day out ahead of the front on Sunday. This front may drop temperatures as much as 15 degrees after it cruises through. As high pressure slides offshore later on Sunday, this will allow for potentially our warmest day of the week as southerly winds are dominant on the backside of the high. Clockwise circulation of high pressure once it slides offshore tends to favor southerly winds and warm conditions. The cold front may be capable of producing locally heavy downpours with a rumble or two of thunder possible on Sunday night into Monday. This rain, heavy at times, may amount to half an inch to over one inch! This is bad news for our area as we recently got very heavy rains! The risk of severe storms should be low due to most of the rain occurring overnight when there is a lack of daytime heating. After this front moves through, a rapid decrease in temperatures can be expected for Monday and Tuesday with highs in the low 50′s, high pressure builds back in behind this front, and “warministas” can once again rejoice and bask in the warmth early next week. We finally got to 70 degrees today, and this is the second sluggish start behind 2003 to reach 70 degrees. Well, get out and enjoy!
