If there was a real time war simulator, Battlefield Bad Company 2 would hit that nail right on the head. This time around the boys of Bad Company are back and more badass then ever. In this sequel you play as a common soldier named Marlowe accompanied by 3 of the most unpredictable soldiers named Sweetwater, Sarge, and Haggard. In Campaign mode these characters are very unique and diverse which adds flavor to what most first person action shooters do with a silent protagonist that has to do everything by himself. *cough*Ramirez*cough* There aren’t as many funny lines compared to the first game but they still are funny including some low blow shots to Modern Warfare 2’s campaign.
The story actually begins during the end of World War II as 4 US soldiers make there way to a Japanese inhabited island in search of scientist. After mass chaos they finally escape the island but are confronted by a secret new weapon able to wipe out entire fleets of warships. Then the story proceeds to present Day with the boys from Bad Company in the mitts of combat against the Russians. Further intelligence later shows that the Russians are after the same weapon that the Japanese used on that fateful island. It is now up to Bad Company to stop the utter destruction of their so called “humble nation.” Let’s dive into the game play mechanics and combat shall we? Battlefield Bad Company does nothing to reinvent the wheel of first person shooters you still have your handy combat and grenade but does excel in vehicle use offline and online. There are a wide variety of vehicles in game from anti-air tanks, UAVs, ATVs, Hum Vees and attack helicopters. What’s the catch? You are able to drive all vehicles and plunge into combat in first or Third person. Unlike other games that let AI take control of vehicles the ability to personally operate these vehicles is very satisfying as you lay waste to buildings. Speaking of falling buildings did I mention everything is destructible? Down to the very trees themselves you can cause buildings to collapse and fall onto your enemies, Destruction 2.0 baby!
You’ll never find a more compelling multiplayer then in Battlefield Bad Company 2. There are 4 different classes to pick from Assault class, your average soldier that can deploy ammo, the medic that heals infantry and revives dead players, the engineer that aims for more vehicle combat with the ability to heal vehicles and carry rocket launchers, and my favorite the Recon class which is the old school guile Sniper. Each class gets different weapons depending on how what rank you and how much in excelled in one class. You must pick carefully from 1 of each of the 4 classes for specific jobs and it is recommended to have a variety of classes. Unique to multiplayer is the ability to use squad members as spawn points in order to push the assault on your enemies. Multiplayer modes like Rush require a more tactical view on combat and stop people from just rushing and being a one man army. Team work is the only way to win a game or you will suffer defeat.
Now I bet most of you are saying to yourselves” Modern Warfare 2 is better” but it really varies on your playing style. Do you like a game where you are a solo soldier and have to climb your way to the top of your team with nothing but your hands and assault rifle? Or do you prefer a game where team work is needed to excel and there is a more variety or tasks to complete. It is all up to what you think, but I do conclude that Battlefield Bad Company 2 blew my expectations away and got me compelled to keep on fighting.

Cool. I’m kinda thinking that the FPS genre should be boxed away. I think it’s kind of getting old and reused.

You seriously need to play some better fps then.
As in…not the console-warrior halo kind
Or the MW2
But the actual good ones. There are plenty. BC2 is one of them.
