Snow, snow, go away…

Tonight into tomorrow total snow: T-2″
Tomorrow night into Friday morning total snow: T-1″
High Wind Warning in effect until 6 pm Friday for wind gusts over 50 mph and sustained winds of 25-35 mph.

Have you had enough of winter and snow already? Well, I’ve got some bad news for you, more snow is on the way tonight into tomorrow morning with a big storm that is developing off the North Carolina coast and heading out to the whaleroad before curving back to the west and stalling over the NY/PA state border. This storm is what meteorologists call a superstorm because all three branches of the jet stream are merging into one, namely the arctic, polar, and subtropical jet. This storm will be far enough north of our are that we should miss the brunt of the accumulations, we may see little to no accumulation of snow tonight and the better chance of accumulation will be later tomorrow night into Friday morning with perhaps snow showers continuing into Saturday. One thing will be for sure, this storm will produce very strong wind gusts peaking at 50 mph for a time and sustained NW winds of 20-30 mph. Do not drive if you do not need to. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing storm as it slowly saunters its way up the coast. See figure for what we can expect tonight in terms of snowfall.
