Colder temperatures behind the storm, back to near average for Tuesday

There is a chance of flooding rain for our area after the Thursday night-Friday storm event is done. The next storm system will unfortunately be a “warm storm” as the main area of storminess tracks well into Canada before reaching Wisconsin. We will be on the warm side of this storm and a potent surge of warmth will come out ahead of this storm. Temperatures out ahead of this strong cold front will be very mild. Behind the front, it will be very cold with blizzard conditions in the Midwest. Quite a temperature difference. Temperatures could flirt in the 60s before the front associated with this storm arrives Sunday afternoon into Monday morning. High temperatures both days could near 50-55 F. The rain from this storm’s front will be heavy and could be up to 2-3″ of rainfall leading to the potential of urban, small stream and river flooding. Any areas that have poor drainage may see some flooding as well, probably minor. Rainfall rates could be near 1″ an hour in some areas. Some rumbles of thunder not to be ruled out. Colder air slowly works its way back in after the front sweeps through on Tuesday, a return to near average temperatures. After this “warm storm” passes the return of winter awaits on our doorsteps for February. Beginnings of more snow? Stay tuned.
