By Devin Doherty. The Twilight Saga: New Moon is the movie adaption based off Stephenie Meyer’s widely successful vampire-romance novel. Unfortunately, like the Twilight Series in general, the movie is slow and interesting parts only come every eon or so. You’d have to be a vampire to sit through this movie and not be bored.
Directed by Chris Weitz and featuring the same cast as the original New Moon is about the escapades of a young women named Bella as a whole host of supernatural and dangerous creatures want to love her. In fact half the movie is just the characters saying they can’t lover her because doing so would her Bella in the process. It’s kind of the basis of the entire film. Twilight dealt with the kindling of new love while New Moon deals with losing love.
New Moon delivers what it promises, supernatural romance. I mean how can you go wrong with CGI werewolves and pale vampires? THe atmosphere of the film is top notch. Everything does seem very surreal and other worldly. The acting is not bad, although there are some lame parts to the film. The effects are great and the fight scenes are pretty interesting and violent.
There’s only one truly bad aspect that kills this movie, the pacing and length. Sadly, its very close to the book in this regard. It’s just so slow and dreary. It takes a while for any plot to really get moving. 1/4 of the book deals with Bella’s, the protagonist, depression about Edward’s, her vampiric lover, abandonment. 2/4 of the book centers around Bella attempting to keep the memory of Edward in her mind. It does not make for an exciting movie in the slightest, except when Bella attempts to do something dangerous and you wish she would kill herself so the movie could end. In fact, the only reason that made me want to continue watching was the fight scenes because at least they moved faster than a snail running a marathon.
If you were a New Moon fan you may enjoy this film. Or you may not. If you like seeing shirtless monsters, CGI wolves, dreary or pale girls, lame sexual tension, and maybe a hint of romance you might want to see New Moon. But be prepared and bring some garlic and silver bullets along, to end it early.

Rated PG-13

I thought the ending was the best part of the movie, several people in the theatre including me actually burst out laughing. I didn’t expect anything other then mild entertainment, so I didn’t find it very disappointing
I think it will be interesting to see how they do the childbirth scene in breaking dawn. Shes suposed to vomit blood while its gushing out of her stomach or something.
They’ll probably go for some sort of shaky/blurry look to the scene so anything gruesome is obscured
Yeah, that scene was one of the most disturbing sequences I’ve ever read in a book, ever.
I thought the movie went by pretty fast actually.
I felt like it was slow. I remember checking the time at least four times. And i just didnt like the movie over all, the scenes that are supposed to be romantic are hilarious, the scenes that are supposed to add tension, made me die a little inside, the ending was disapointing. Even though the ending of the movie is better than the book because they just stood there and talked in the book and had a bit of action in the end it was still a bit bad. I Prefered Hardwick’s directing in twilight, and the effects in new moon.
Really? That movie was like a snail race.
