Heed the call of the Assassin and seek vengeance upon those who have done you wrong! Assassin’s creed 2 is sequel that lives up to its title. There are moments in the game that are just complete plot twists and consist of Spectacle events. (Hint: if you haven’t played the original Assassin’s Creed you probably won’t care to read this) The story plot behind AC2 is that you play as Desmond Miles the main character from the original game who starts out by escaping the Templar’s base and invade guards while going back to the Assassin’s hideout. There is a current generation war going on at the moment and only Desmond Miles’ memories can help curve the battle for the greater good. Most of the time who spend your time in a machine called the Animus that allows the user to relive past events of their ancestor’s life. From this knowledge they hope to turn Desmond into a true modern day Assassin and to unlock an even bigger secret of the world itself.
From the first Assassin’s Creed instead of playing Altair you play as a Renaissance Era assassin named Eizo Audatore da Fieranz.
Born into a rich family Eizo had always been spoiled yet he retains the skills of a common thief. Until the day his father and brothers are hung by a crime they did not commit does he have a true purpose. That purpose of hunting down every last person who planned against his family and murdering them, righting a great wrong. In Assassin’s Creed 2 you are given two hidden blades which helps a lot considering the hidden blade is now actually a weapon you can use in combat and not just an assassin tool like in the prequel.
Assassination techniques are now more diverse for instance you can assassinate a guard from a hiding place and pull his body back into the pile of hay. Or how about diving into deep dark water and pulling someone in for a quick dip of death.
One thing that I am happy to enounce is bigger variety of weapons and armor that can be obtained. In Assassin’s Creed 2 there is a store system where Eizo can buy medicine, armor, weapons, and ammunition for his weapons. Even the ability to customize your color of armor is included. Each weapon has its own unique executions of guards and is most satisfying while locked in combat. Then there are items like smoke bombs that are for a quick get away and throwing knifes to kill people from afar. Even a handy early version of a gun attached to Eizo’s gauntlets is present.
The different enemy types are also knew you have the lighter wielding class that is more likely to climb up the same buildings you do chasing after you with a combat knife. Then the medium class wielders usually carry maces or spears and are quite agile. There are heavy wielding brutes that have thick armor and may take more time to kill. You are also able to manage your own town that you can reap income from to improve your town or for your own needs. Your stats and what you buy for your town effects its value which affects your town’s income.
There is a wider variety of side quest then the first game that will keep some people playing for a while. Collectables are still present yet instead of flags there are feathers that eventually unlock unique weapons. There are also hidden messages that require you to use eagle vision to see and then decode unlocking a slip of video footage of a strange origin.
Compared to the original Assassin’s Creed this sequel has a lot to offer yet if you have never played the first game then you might not be as thrilled when playing it. Yet if you were disappointed at Assassin’s Creed and are looking for that game you never got, you will defiantly have fun with this game.
